Examples of top-tier peer-reviewed scholarly journals in tourism include:
Journal of Sustainable Tourism
Annals of Tourism Research
Tourism Management
Journal of Travel and Tourism
At least one of your articles should be from one of the four top journals listed above. Other peer-reviewed journals may be included as well, but try to make sure they are reputable. If you are unsure, check to see if they are listed here within the Scimago Journal & Country Rank top 100.Links to an external site. This list is not foolproof, but is acceptable for our purposes.
If you are unsure which articles to choose, consider them in terms of:
Relevance to your specific topic and focus. Is it about a similar place, scenario, population, etc.?
Whether the information is recent. If more than a decade has passed, is the information still relevant and useful?
Whether it is a particularly influential article or was written by a well-known scholar. Note: Google Scholar shows the number of times an individual article has been cited in other publications, which provides some indication of an article’s impact. Generally, within tourism studies, if an article has been cited 300+ or so times, it has been fairly influential. 1000+ is very good. This varies for different fields of study.

Select at least three articles related to your topic. You cannot use the articles published in popular magazines and newspapers, which are not peer-reviewed. Prepare an annotated bibliography that summarizes each of your articles. An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to reference materials that also includes a brief description and evaluation of each source, which is referred to as the “annotation.” Use APA style (7th ed.) for both the citations and annotations in your annotated bibliography.
The annotation for a single article should fully summarize the article in approximately 150 words (not counting the reference citation itself).
